This recreational area was artificial made by damming the northern part of Køge Bay (Køge Bugt). The Park is southwest of Central Copenhagen (København), and it is a perfect place to get away from the city. The Park opened in 1980, and at 7km long it is Denmark’s longest continuous row of artificial dunes. Not only is there a long white sand beach, there are multiple small lagoons and small lakes.
The park has a wide variety of water related activities such as fishing, windsurfing, swimming and many boating activities. There are multiple marinas the length of the beach park. The marinas combined can support over 4000 boats.
During the summertime the Køge Bay Beach Park is often very crowded with Copenhageners who are anxious to get out of the city. The park is a great place to bring the family and there are plenty of indoor and outdoor recreational activities for all ages.
