Global Information Technology Report on Denmark (2007-08)

Denmark tops the rankings of The Global Information Technology Report 2007-2008’s "Networked Readiness Index", culiminating a steady rise since 2003. Denmark’s levels of networked readiness have most to do with the country’s regulatory environment, coupled with a clear government policy of leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for growth and promoting ICT penetration and usage.

Denmark is number one for the second time, keeping its position from last year. Denmark has benefited from early focus on ICT penetration and usage, which has resulted in high levels of Internet and PC usage as well as that of e-government - all in a dynamic e-business environment. Denmark, with a well-developed internal market, together with a continuous emphasis on education and R&D and a talent for pioneering applications and technologies, has laid the basis for the development of a first-rate high-tech industry.
